Welcome to the Lindwurm Ultra Run, an exhilarating ultramarathon experience that challenges runners with its unique blend of terrain and elevation. Organized by Quälixfaktor, this event is designed for serious trail runners who are ready to push their limits in a challenging yet scenic setting. Scheduled for March 6-7, 2027, the Lindwurm Ultra Run offers four different distances: Plus (114.5 km / 2850 meters of elevation gain), Classic (70 km / 1900 meters), Midi (45.5 km / 1000 meters), and Mini (24.5 km / 550 meters). Each route follows the mythical Lindwurm dragon's trail, weaving through the hilly landscapes of Oberbergische. The Plus course is a full ultramarathon experience with a total distance of 114.5 kilometers over two days, starting at 6:00 AM on Saturday and finishing by Sunday morning at 9:00 AM. The Classic route covers 70 km in just under three days, while the Midi spans 45.5 km within one day from a mid-morning start to midnight finish. The Mini course is perfect for those looking to dip their toes into ultrarunning with its manageable distance of 24.5 kilometers and an afternoon-to-evening timeframe. All routes feature rugged trails, steep ascents, and descents that test both physical endurance and mental fortitude. Participants can expect a mix of forest paths, muddy tracks, and challenging terrain punctuated by occasional asphalt sections near the start/finish area in Lindlar. The weather during early March in Oberbergische is unpredictable – cold temperatures, rain, wind, or even snow are possible, adding an extra layer of challenge to this already demanding course. Race organizers emphasize that finding your way through the rugged landscape will be part of the adventure and encourage runners to prepare for unexpected obstacles such as deep mud, icy puddles, and potential snow patches on higher elevations. Registration fees vary based on distance: Plus ($75), Classic ($55), Midi ($38), and Mini ($22). The entry fee includes logistics support, hydration stations, warm meals at aid stations, timing services, finisher certificates, and a special commemorative gift. Quälixfaktor is dedicated to fostering the ultrarunning community in Germany with events that push runners beyond their comfort zones. This year’s Lindwurm Ultra Run promises an unforgettable experience for those who dare to take on its challenging terrain and unpredictable weather conditions.
