About the Event

The 5th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Run: United We Stand returns to Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Saturday, June 20, 2026. This event offers a unique blend of celebration and unity, honoring the legacy of Mrs. Opal Lee through its diverse distances and inclusive atmosphere.
Race morning finds runners gathering at the Hubert Fry Center in downtown Chattanooga. The park is known for its serene ambiance with lush greenery and open spaces. Participants can expect firm yet slightly soft trails that will test their endurance, set against a backdrop of towering trees and scenic views. On race day, the air temperature hovers around 75°F to 80°F, making it comfortably warm but still manageable.
This is the fifth year for this event, which has grown from a small community gathering into one of Chattanooga's notable celebrations. Over the past four years, thousands have joined in solidarity, with participation increasing each time. The race supports local scholarships and promotes unity as participants come together to honor Juneteenth—a holiday celebrating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
The course venue is the Hubert Fry Center, an ideal starting point for runners. The 10K route doubles back on itself, making it a challenging yet enjoyable journey through the park's winding paths. For those seeking less distance but still wanting to participate in this meaningful event, there’s also a half marathon that covers twice as much ground.
Weather conditions on race day are expected to be firm and slightly soft trails under very high UV index levels of 8.0. Runners should expect sunny skies with temperatures ranging from the low 70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit, making hydration essential for all participants.

Bibs can be picked up at the Hubert Fry Center on race day between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM. Participants must bring a valid form of identification for age group awards, which will be awarded in various categories from 19 and under through 65+ and over.
The half marathon starts right outside the center doors and follows a firm yet slightly soft course that loops back on itself twice before finishing at the starting point. Age requirements are flexible but those wishing to run must be 18 or older, with minors needing adult permission for participation.
This race is worth attending because it brings together Chattanoogans from all walks of life in celebration and unity. By participating, you'll support local scholarships and honor a significant moment in American history through the act of running.
