53rd Lincoln-Douglas Run

The 53rd Lincoln-Douglas Run returns to Metamora, Illinois on June 27th, 2026 at 7:30 AM. The event offers a choice of distances for runners and walkers alike, including the eight-mile run that will wind through downtown streets and end in front of the Historic Metamora Courthouse, as well as the three-mile run which starts from MTCO and also finishes near the courthouse.
Race morning finds participants assembling at Metamora Township High School (MTHS) where they can register or pick up their numbers between 6:30 AM to 7:15 AM. The setting is picturesque, with runners starting in front of MTHS and navigating through the historic neighborhood before reaching the finish line amidst spectators gathered around the Courthouse Square. This year marks its fiftieth edition, bringing together over three hundred participants who come from various parts of Illinois to support Metamora’s local charities.
Course conditions are known for their hard and dry surface, which ensures a smooth run even under typical June weather in Metamora. Runners can expect temperatures ranging between 18°C to 29°C with an average wind speed of 13.4 km/h. The UV index is very high at 8.0, advising participants to use sunscreen and wear appropriate clothing.
The race offers a 5K for adults and a Kids K for younger runners. Both distances are designed to provide a fun challenge while adhering to the hard surface conditions of Metamora’s streets.
