52nd Musashi Kyuryo National Government Forest Park Kanso Marathon (第52回 国営武蔵丘陵森林公園完走マラソン大会)

About the Event

This marathon uses the hilly terrain of Musashi Kyuryo National Government Park, with a course the organizers call a uniquely hard up-and-down route. It is now in its 52nd year and aims to have every participant finish by running at a pace suited to their own fitness.
Time limits are relaxed. The 10 km, 5 km, 1.6 km and the 1.1 km parent-and-child pair run have none, while the half marathon has a checkpoint at about 19 km on the second lap, to be passed by 15:00, with the finish due by 15:30. Apart from the sports ground where the race starts and finishes, the whole course is paved, which makes it a reasonable rehearsal for a full marathon. Six events run from 1.1 km to the half marathon, split into many age and gender divisions, so first-timers can find a distance that fits.
