5th Annual American Legion Auxiliary Turkey Trot

Race day is just around the corner in the quaint town of Guthrie, Oklahoma, as The American Legion LeBron Post 58 Family prepares for their beloved Thanksgiving morning tradition. This year marks the fifth edition of the event, where participants will gather to work up their Turkey Day appetites while supporting a worthy cause. The race starts early at Mineral Wells Park and includes both in-person runners and those who prefer to participate virtually.
On that crisp November day, expect temperatures ranging from 7.1°C to 17.5°C with an average of 12.3°C, and the skies typically clear for about eight hours of sunshine. The terrain is firm yet slightly soft due to typical rainfall amounts, making it a comfortable surface despite some slight give in steps.
The course begins and ends at Mineral Wells Park, offering runners a scenic route through the local landscape. There are no major elevation changes, but keep an eye out for the unique features that make this race special: the start/finish area where participants can enjoy post-race refreshments like donuts and hot chocolate, along with aid stations positioned strategically to ensure hydration and energy replenishment.

Registration is now open at https://runsignup.com/Race/OK/Guthrie/GuthrieTurkeyTrot. Fees range from $20 for the 1 Mile Fun Run to $35 for the 5k Run, with a virtual option available as well. Participants must register by Sunday, November 10th to be guaranteed a t-shirt; any remaining will be sold at the race.
Bibs can be picked up on-site or mailed if you prefer that option. For those new to Guthrie and its surroundings, Mineral Wells Park is located right in the heart of town. Age requirements are set for participants who must be 18 years old or older unless accompanied by an adult guardian; first-timers will find a warm welcome and plenty of helpful tips from seasoned runners.
