The Katrin-Berglauf, one of Austria's most scenic and challenging mountain races, returns for its 31st edition on June 13, 2027. This beloved race kicks off the summer series #badischllaeuft in Bad Ischl, a picturesque town nestled within the Salzkammergut region. The event is limited to just 270 individual starters and eight Gaudi-Mixed-Staffel teams, ensuring an intimate yet competitive atmosphere for runners of all abilities. The race begins at the Kaiser-Jagdstandbild, standing at an elevation of 472 meters above sea level. From there, participants will embark on a steep ascent along the ski slope to reach the Katrin-Seilbahn Bergstation, which sits at a lofty height of 1,415 meters. The course spans approximately 4,400 meters in length and features an elevation gain of nearly 943 meters. Runners will navigate rugged terrain as they climb through dense forest trails and over rocky outcrops, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding alpine landscape throughout their journey to the finish line at the Katrin-Seilbahn. For those looking to secure a spot in this iconic race, entry fees remain unchanged until January 1, 2027. After that date, registration will incur an additional charge for late entries starting from June 12, 2027. Participants can pick up their start numbers on the day before or morning of the event. Completing all three #badischllaeuft events in summer 2027 could earn runners a chance at winning a special prize as part of Bad Ischl's search for its "Lauf-Kaiserpaar." This unique competition showcases not only athletic prowess but also celebrates the spirit and camaraderie that define these annual races. As with any mountain race, participants must be aware of the physical demands involved. Runners are encouraged to consult medical professionals if necessary before committing to this challenging course. By signing up for the Katrin-Berglauf, competitors agree to assume full responsibility for their participation while adhering strictly to all rules and guidelines set forth by organizers. Join us in Bad Ischl as we celebrate another year of breathtaking mountain running amidst stunning natural beauty – an experience not soon forgotten!

About Bad Ischl
Learn more about the host city, Bad Ischl.
Bad Ischl is a spa town in Austria. It lies in the southern part of Upper Austria, at the river Traun in the centre of the Salzkammergut region. The town consists of the Katastralgemeinden Ahorn, Bad Ischl, Haiden, Jainzen, Kaltenbach, Lauffen, Lindau, Pfandl, Perneck, Reiterndorf and Rettenbach. It is connected to the village of Strobl by the river Ischl, which drains from the Wolfgangsee, and to the Traunsee, into which the stream empties. It is home to the Kaiservilla, summer residence of Austro-Hungarian monarchs Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth. In 2024, Bad Ischl was one of the European Capitals of Culture – the third city in Austria after Graz (2003) and Linz (2009).
