2nd Hozuka-yama Mini Hill Climb Race (第2回 母塚山ミニヒルクライム大会)

Nestled just 15 minutes by car from the revered Akakijin Shrine, home to legends of renewal and rebirth, Mount Hahaoka stands at an elevation of 228 meters. The mountain is said to hold a sacred tomb dedicated to Izanami, the goddess associated with creation. A well-maintained road leads visitors up to its scenic overlook where panoramic views of the Chugoku Mountains, including Mt. Daisen and beyond to the Sea of Japan, await.
The highlight for photographers comes twice annually in March and September when a breathtaking phenomenon known as "Diamond Daisen" can be observed from this vantage point. The mountain's profile against the sky at dawn or dusk creates an almost otherworldly spectacle that draws enthusiasts year after year.
Participants will climb 189 meters of elevation over a distance of 2.1 kilometers, starting from Furusato Exchange Center and culminating atop Mount Hahaoka’s summit. The route is typically frequented by runners, cyclists training for hill climbs, and triathletes seeking challenging terrain. For this special event, the course will be closed to traffic to ensure a safe and focused race experience.
After crossing the finish line, competitors can enjoy a hearty lunch featuring local favorites such as Nukigawa’s signature burger and pork stew prepared by the community's culinary team.
