The course weaves through the historic downtown area before heading into the surrounding residential neighborhoods, offering a mix of firm and slightly soft trail conditions typical for late December. The route features two main sections: a gentle uphill climb on Pine Street leading to the peak of Jackson Hill where participants can catch their breath while enjoying stunning views over the city lights below; then a gradual descent down Elm Avenue lined with quaint shops and cafes, perfect spots for last-minute souvenir purchases or post-race refreshments.
On race day, runners will start at 398 Oil Well Rd at 6:00 PM. The course layout includes two aid stations strategically placed to ensure all participants can stay hydrated throughout the run. Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to make appearances for photos with children and adults alike, while a selection of Hoka demo shoes will be available for runners looking to try out new footwear before the winter season kicks in.
Weather-wise, expect temperatures around 7°C that might feel cooler due to wind speeds reaching an average of 12.6 km/h; therefore, layering clothing is advised. Humidity levels are at a comfortable 70.9%, and while there's only 2.6 mm of expected rainfall, runners should still prepare for some moisture in the air.
