2027 Boston AAPI 5K

Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with the AAPI 5K, a vibrant race that honors cultural pride while supporting local communities. Held on Saturday, May 16 at Carson Beach Picnic Area in South Boston, this event offers both running and walking waves to cater to all fitness levels.
The run wave kicks off at 8:30 am for those aiming to complete the 5K distance within a brisk pace of under 11 minutes per mile. Participants who can finish within 34 minutes will be eligible for special recognition. For walkers, the event starts at 9:15 am with waves designed for slower paces and casual enjoyment.
One highlight is the costume challenge where runners and walkers are encouraged to dress up in their favorite anime characters or any creative costumes they wish. The best-dressed teams of two women and two men can earn a delicious prize of Cha Siu Baos, adding an extra layer of fun and excitement.
To ensure race day runs smoothly without the hassle of bib pick-ups, participants should collect their numbers on either Thursday from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm or Friday during the same hours. Friends and family can also help by picking up a runner's bib for them if needed.
The event is designed to raise funds and awareness for AAPI nonprofit organizations while promoting local small businesses. It’s an inclusive space that welcomes runners, walkers, and supporters alike to come together in celebration of heritage and community spirit.
Participants are advised to park at the UMass Bay Side Parking Lot near the start and finish area. Passport Parking is recommended; download their app using URL Parking App.com with zone code 21251 for easy payment. Avoid parking restrictions around State Police South Boston Station, Boston Teachers Union, and the State Lottery Commission - Headquarters.
