About the Event

Frisco, Colorado. Wednesday, May 27, 2026. 5:00‑9:00 PM. The Summit Mountain Challenge kicks off with Round 1 — the Frisco Round Up. First of six mountain bike races in the Breckenridge Recreation series. Choose long course or short course. Kids categories available (ages 8 & under, 9‑15). Points scoring: 100 for 1st, down to 2 points for 20th. Individual race registration: $29 adults 16+, $20 youth 15 & under. Operated under USDA Forest Service special use permit — White River National Forest.

Summit Mountain Challenge #1 — Frisco Round Up
Wednesday, May 27, 2026 • 5:00‑9:00 PM • Frisco, CO • Mountain bike race

Location — Frisco, Colorado:

Frisco is a mountain town on the shores of Dillon Reservoir, just 10 minutes west of Breckenridge
Race venue and specific trailhead to be announced — check Breckenridge Recreation website
Classic high‑country singletrack: aspen groves, pine forests, and mountain views
Elevation approximately 9,000 ft — be prepared for altitude

Course Options:

Long course — for experienced mountain bikers
Short course — for intermediate riders and families
Kids categories — ages 8 & under, and 9‑15
Specific distances not listed — check race website for course maps

Rules of the Trail — Important Etiquette:

Cyclists yield to hikers
Both cyclists and hikers yield to horses (not applicable at Frisco)
When two cyclists ride in opposite directions, the rider climbing has the right of way
When riding in a group and encountering other users, tell them how many are in your group — the last person should say "I'm the last one"
Smile, wave, say "thank you!"
Assume the best about people. If an interaction goes poorly, pedal on without engaging.

Scoring & Series:

This is race #1 of 6 in the Summit Mountain Challenge series
Points per race: 1st = 100, 2nd = 90, 3rd = 80, down to 20th = 2
Top 3 racers in each category recognized at each race and at end of season
Must complete 5 of 6 races (same distance category) to be eligible for series overall winner

Registration Fees (Individual Race — Frisco Round Up):

Ages 16 & up: $29
Ages 15 & under: $20
Series registration still available? Check website — series registration covers all 6 races ($150 adults 16+, $100 ages 9‑15, $84 ages 8 & under)
Bib replacement fee: $5

What's Included:

Chip timing
Course markings and volunteer course marshals
Aid stations (water, electrolyte)
Medical support on course
Post‑race refreshments
Awards for top 3 in each category

Logistics:

Race day registration opens at 5:00 PM at the race venue (specific location TBD)
Pre‑registration recommended — closes day before race (typically)
No refunds in event of race cancellation or change due to inclement weather or trail conditions
Race director reserves right to delay, cancel, or reschedule
Deferral policy: requests must be sent to [email protected] by noon on race day
Parking at venue — carpool recommended
No dogs on course
