Fish Hatchery 5K Trail Run

The Fish Hatchery 5K Trail Run takes place on Sunday, 31 May 2026 at 8:30 AM MT at the historic Leadville National Fish Hatchery (2846 Hwy 300, Leadville, Colorado). This scenic cross‑country style course winds through subalpine forest near and around the Evergreen Lakes and lower Rock Creek area, consisting of dirt road, path, and single track. The event benefits Leadville youth athletics and recreation, including Children's Fishing Day and the Nordic team.

Awards:

• Top male and female finishers in each age group: 13‑19, 20‑29, 30‑39, 40‑49, 50‑59, 60‑69, 70+
• Top three male and female finishers in the 12 and under age group
• Post‑race raffle with prizes

Directions:

• Follow Hwy 24 south of Leadville for 4 miles
• Turn right (west) on Hwy 300 — this road takes you directly to the hatchery in two miles

History and proceeds:

• The Leadville National Fish Hatchery was established in 1889 and is the second oldest federal hatchery in operation
• Proceeds benefit the Leadville‑Lake County Sports Hall of Fame
• The event is operated by the US Fish & Wildlife Service
