2026 Silver Grass Sunset Marathon

On October 17, 2026, Gwangju's Seo-gu District invites runners to experience the Sangmu Sunset Run, an evening race that combines scenic beauty with vibrant community spirit. The event begins at Sangmu Citizen Park and concludes at the picturesque grounds of the Seochang Silver Grass Festival.
Participants have a choice between two distances: a 10 km route for those seeking a longer challenge or a more accessible 5 km option. Both races feature stunning views as they wind through well-lit paths, making it an ideal opportunity to enjoy Gwangju's urban and natural landscapes under the glow of twilight.
The registration period runs from September 9 at 10:00 AM until September 28 at 2:00 PM, with a capacity limit of first come, first served for up to 2,500 participants. The entry fee is KRW 30,000 for the 10 km race and KRW 20,000 for the 5 km event.
For those choosing the longer distance, the package includes a variety of perks such as an Onnuri gift certificate, headband, timing chip, finisher medal, refreshment voucher, and complimentary insurance. The shorter course offers similar benefits but without the additional items specific to the extended run.
Water stations are strategically placed approximately every 2.5 kilometers along both routes, ensuring runners stay hydrated throughout their journey. Shuttle buses will be available from the finish line back to Sangmu Citizen Park starting at 5:00 PM and running until 7:00 PM for those who need transportation assistance after crossing the finish.
The race awards top male and female competitors in various age categories up to 20th place, with separate rankings determined by gun time. Participants must adhere strictly to all rules; violations such as impersonating another runner or leaving designated pathways can result in disqualification.
