Test your endurance against Nova Scotia’s winter at the Pick & Shovel Showdown 8-Hour Ultra on January 24, 2026, hosted at McDonald Sports Park in historic Waverley. This unique event begins with a 10km race at noon, after which runners can continue completing 6km laps at their own pace until the 7:30 PM cutoff, all within the supportive and warm hub of the Cheema Canoe Club. With a highly runnable, well-travelled course and provisions for hot and cold food and beverages, this race is designed for resilience and camaraderie, regardless of winter conditions.
Compete for podium prizes, division awards, and an exciting $500 gift card for setting a new course record—currently 14 laps (82.4km). Whether you aim to run for the full eight hours or simply enjoy a challenging winter day on the trails, this fourth edition promises a memorable blend of community, endurance, and golden history.
