Join the vibrant community of supporters at the 6th Annual Martin McGuinness Chieftains Walk NYC on Sunday, September 13, 2026. This year’s walk honors the enduring legacy of peacebuilder and leader Martin McGuinness by celebrating his vision for a united Ireland through acts of solidarity and remembrance. The event will take place at Pier 25, located along West Street and N. Moore Street in New York City. Due to ongoing construction at the Irish Hunger Memorial, this year’s gathering point is shifted to Pier 25 where participants can register between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., allowing ample time for check-in and networking with fellow members of the Irish-American community. At 10:00 a.m., walkers will embark on their journey along the picturesque Hudson River waterfront, walking from Pier 25 to Pier 45 before returning back. This scenic route offers stunning views of the New York skyline while providing an opportunity for reflection and camaraderie among participants as they celebrate McGuinness’s legacy. Special guest Gráinne Hargan, daughter of Martin McGuinness, will be joining us in person from Ireland to lend her voice and support to this meaningful event. The walk itself is a poignant reminder of the work still ahead towards peace and unity, with each step taken symbolizing progress toward these goals. The day’s festivities begin early as participants gather for an opening celebration featuring traditional Irish music, remarks by Foundation representatives, and special guests who will share insights into the ongoing efforts to promote reconciliation in Ireland. This event is not just a walk but a communal experience that fosters connections among friends old and new while advocating for peace.
