2026 Maritime Open Weightlifting Championships

The Maritime Open Weightlifting Championships, hosted by Peak Fitness and organized through Haltérophilie NB Weightlifting, is set to take place on October 24, 2026. This prestigious competition welcomes athletes from across the nation who are registered with either the New Brunswick Weightlifting Association (NBWA) or their respective Provincial Sporting Organizations.
Competitors will vie for top honors in all International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) sanctioned weight categories, featuring both male and female divisions. The event includes Junior, Senior, and Masters classifications, providing a comprehensive platform for athletes of different age groups to showcase their strength and skill.
The Maritime Open serves as a qualifying tournament for the Canadian Junior, Senior, and Masters National Championships in 2026/27, offering valuable opportunities for advancement within the sport. Athletes are reminded to adhere strictly to IWF rules with a few notable exceptions: singlets are preferred but not mandatory; those without singlets may wear close-fitting shorts and a tucked-in t-shirt. Furthermore, athletes who fail to register a successful lift during the snatch portion will still be permitted to compete in the clean and jerk.
The competition is subject to doping control by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES), with sample collection procedures conducted at their discretion. All participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these guidelines prior to the event.
