2026 Chicken Run

The 2026 Chicken Run returns to Washington, Missouri on June 13th. This community event offers both a 5K run for adults and a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk. The race starts and finishes at Our Lady of Lourdes in the heart of the city.
On race morning, runners can expect a familiar setting with Our Lady of Lourdes as the backdrop. Participants will gather on the streets near the church, where they'll be greeted by the usual early-morning bustle of local residents waking up for another day. The weather is expected to feel warm and comfortable during the 5K at an average temperature range between 18.5°C and 29.1°C with a humidity level of 71%. There will also be some wind, averaging around 10 km/h.
The tradition of this event has been strong since its inception in 2024, attracting participants from the community and beyond. The race raises funds for scholarships through the OLL Chicken Run Foundation, supporting local students' education. This makes it more than just a run; it's an opportunity to contribute positively to your neighborhood.
The course venue is on Hard and dry surface with trail conditions that are favorable during this time of year. The 5K starts from Our Lady of Lourdes and follows the streets around, returning back to the same location for the finish line. There will be no aid stations; however, participants can expect a smooth path under Very High UV index conditions.
The Fun Run/Walk is immediately after the main race, offering students an affordable option at just $10 per participant. The 5K course also allows student participation with reduced fees of $20 for adults and $10 for students. Bibs can be picked up at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall from 5 PM to 8 PM on June 13th, where participants should bring their own proof of age or identification. The start location is Our Lady of Lourdes Church; runners must be aged 16 and over.
After crossing the finish line, stick around for chicken wings served as a preview to the Parish Chicken Dinner and enjoy the festival atmosphere that follows. This event not only offers an opportunity to run but also supports local students through scholarships funded by race proceeds.
