Held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the race takes place within the Fish Creek Provincial Park area in Calgary, Alberta. The event is strictly cup-free, emphasizing environmental sustainability and requiring participants to carry their own hydration receptacles.

Race Categories and Schedule

The event features a variety of distances, ranging from introductory children's challenges to technical "Enduro" loops. Participants should note that the 1 KM Kid's Challenge is a free event with registration occurring on the morning of the race.

Category Distance Start Time
Enduro Run/Hike 10.7 km 10:00 AM
Sport Run/Hike 5.9 km 10:15 AM
Timed Kids Race 3 km 9:15 AM
Kids Challenge 1 km 9:30 AM
Geography and Course Conditions

Sikome Lake is located in south Calgary, characterized by the undulating terrain of the Bow River valley. The trails are primarily natural surfaces including dirt, grass, and occasional gravel sections. In early May, Calgary typically sees variable spring weather with average highs of 15°C and lows of 2°C. While the area is known for its beauty, the trails can become muddy following spring thaws or rain. For safety reasons, dogs, strollers, and headphones are strictly prohibited on the course. Hiking poles are permitted only for those participating in the non-competitive hiking categories.

Logistics and Packet Pickup

Participants have two opportunities to collect their race packets. Early pickup is available on Friday, May 8th, at Strides (107, 12445 Lake Fraser Drive S.E.) between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM. On-site pickup at Sikome Lake begins at 8:30 AM on race morning and closes promptly at 9:45 AM. The venue offers ample parking and on-site washroom facilities located near the start/finish area. Post-race food will be served in the Expo area starting at 11:00 AM.

Awards and Swag Policy

The event recognizes top performers with an awards ceremony at 12:00 PM. Medals are awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three in each age and gender category for every distance. It is important to note that registration fees do not include swag or finisher medals; these must be purchased separately via Race Roster during the registration process. All purchased items and earned awards must be collected on-site, as they will not be mailed or held for later pickup.

Contact and Volunteering

The primary race contact for general inquiries is Houda ([email protected]). Individuals interested in supporting the event through volunteer roles can contact Laurie ([email protected]). As a community-focused series, the event relies on volunteers for course marshalling, aid station support, and finish line logistics.

It is your best point of access for Banff and Jasper, and a worthwhile destination in its own right. Calgary is the heart of the largest metropolitan area between Toronto and Vancouver, with over 1.3 million people as of 2021, making it Canada's fifth largest metropolitan area.
