The 2026 Tenth Annual Yangxin Summit Challenge Race, scheduled for Sunday, November 29th at 8:00 AM, invites runners to the picturesque Moon Star Village Committee in BaiSha Town of Yangxin County, Hubei Province. This challenging event features two routes: the Grand Ascend (23 kilometers) and the Scenic Tour (13 kilometers). Both courses offer a unique blend of natural beauty and rigorous terrain.
The Grand Ascend route spans 23 kilometers with an impressive cumulative elevation gain of 2,220 meters, starting at 8:00 AM on November 29th. The race has a cutoff time of 5:00 PM the same day, allowing participants nine hours to complete their journey through rugged landscapes and dense forests. This route is expected to earn runners two ITRA points.
For those looking for an equally scenic but slightly less demanding experience, the Scenic Tour covers 13 kilometers with a cumulative elevation gain of 1,280 meters. Starting at the same time as the Grand Ascend on November 29th, this route has a cutoff time of 2:00 PM and is expected to earn runners one ITRA point.
Both routes wind through Yangxin's Seven Peaks Mountain, known for its diverse terrain including terraced fields, forests, meadows, tea plantations, canyons, and bamboo groves. The majority of the race course follows mountain ridges, with over 90% consisting of challenging off-road paths that offer breathtaking views across a sea of peaks.
Yangxin's Seven Peaks Mountain is located in the northern foothills of Mount Mugufu on the southern bank of the Yangtze River. This area boasts stunning natural scenery and abundant biodiversity, earning it titles such as "green treasure house" and "natural oxygen bar." The landscape changes with each season: cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery during summer, vibrant red foliage in autumn, and winter scenes reminiscent of northern China.
The mountain range includes several notable sites like the Seven Peaks Forest Sea, Mount Nanyan—the highest peak in Huangshi—and historical landmarks such as the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom's ancient city walls and gates. Cultural attractions include the National Cunninghamia Lanceolata Seedling Base, Bai Shuitang Provincial Nature Reserve, Qianfeng Temple, Sanxing Temple, and Guanyin Pavilion.
