About the event
The half marathon starts and finishes at MUFG Stadium, the National Stadium, and runs past Jingu Gaien, the front of Shinjuku Station's east exit and Kagurazaka, showing off the sights of Shinjuku. A 10 km race goes through Meiji Jingu Gaien.
The program is unusually broad. Adults can choose the half marathon, the 10 km, a 3 km run or a 5.5 km fun run made up of five 1.1 km laps in the stadium, with a relay version for teams of two to five. Elementary school pupils run 1 km (grades 1 and 2) or 2 km (grades 3 to 6), and junior high school students run 3 km. Families can take on a 1 km family run with one or two parents, and the Hiyoko event pairs a parent with a pre-school child over 42.195 m inside the stadium. Special 200 m runs are open to people aged 70 and over, elementary school pupils and people with disabilities of elementary school age and above. The main races are divided by gender and age, with separate categories for ID and athletics federation-registered entries.
