About the event

The Rome Marathon is an unforgettable journey through the timeless heart of one of the world's most captivating cities. This 42.195km route weaves its way past iconic landmarks and lesser-known gems, offering runners a unique blend of history, culture, and breathtaking scenery.
As you set off on race day, your path takes you along ancient cobblestones that have seen centuries pass by. You'll run alongside the Colosseum's imposing walls, feel the grandeur of the Roman Forum, and marvel at the beauty of St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City. The marathon is not just a physical challenge but an immersive experience where every step feels like stepping into history.
The route also features thrilling moments such as passing through Piazza Venezia and crossing under the Arch of Constantine before entering the Circus Maximus, each segment filled with historical significance and stunning views. Runners are greeted by enthusiastic crowds at every turn, creating a vibrant atmosphere that fuels your progress towards the finish line where gladiators await to celebrate your achievement.
Certified with both FIDAL Gold Label and IAAF Road Race Silver Label distinctions, this event is recognized for its exceptional organization and high standards. The Rome Marathon offers runners aged 20 years or older (born in 1983 or earlier) the chance to participate across various categories designed to accommodate a wide range of athletes.
Whether you're an elite competitor affiliated with FIDAL or World Athletics, a resident athlete holding a RUNCARD-EPS or standard RUNCARD, or even a non-competitive foreign runner living abroad, there's a place for everyone in this historic race. Each participant is included in the rankings but only those who meet specific criteria are eligible for prizes and refunds.
Join thousands of runners each year as they embrace the challenge and spirit of Rome’s marathon tradition, which dates back to Dorando Pietri crossing its finish line on April 2, 1906, marking a legacy that continues to inspire today.

About Lazio

Learn more about the host city, Lazio.

Scenic view of

Lazio (Latium) is a central region of Italy. Rome is more or less in the middle of the region but Lazio has numerous other attractions and would well repay a visit even if Rome did not exist. The region has many fascinating cities, several lakes, some beautiful scenery, good opportunities for country and hill walks and a coastline that is almost entirely beach, which is enhanced by hundreds of excellent fish restaurants. Communications are good, particularly going north-south.
