Roma Appia Run

Step into the heart of Rome for an unforgettable running experience at the Roma Appia Run, held annually on April 11th. This iconic mid-April event transforms the Eternal City into a playground where history and athleticism collide. Participants can choose between two main formats: the challenging 19.950 km queen race or a more manageable 9 km loop.
The route winds through some of Rome's most historic landmarks, including the Colosseum, Circus Maximus, Porta San Sebastiano, Caffarella Park, and the catacombs of San Callisto. The terrain varies dramatically, from classic asphalt to ancient basolato (historic volcanic stone slabs) and sampietrini cobblestones, offering a unique technical challenge that tests every runner's skill.
The event is not just about running; it’s an immersive journey through time. Runners are greeted by enthusiastic crowds cheering them on along the route, while volunteers ensure everyone stays fueled with strategic refreshments. The race village at Stadio delle Terme di Caracalla buzzes with energy as runners from across Europe converge to celebrate this historic run.
After crossing the finish line, take advantage of Rome’s rich cultural offerings. Explore nearby attractions like the Catacombs of San Callisto or stroll through Parco Regionale dell'Appia Antica to admire Roman aqueducts. For a peaceful interlude, Villa Borghese gardens offer respite under umbrella pines.
Join thousands of runners in this legendary event and experience Rome’s timeless beauty firsthand.
