Quiroga Trail Challenge

The Quiroga Trail Challenge is an exhilarating mountain-running festival set against the stunning backdrop of Galicia's Montañas do Courel. This celebrated event invites runners to explore the region’s rugged terrain, which includes dense forests, pine groves, babbling streams, and ancient trails that wind through remote villages rich in geological diversity.
The trail offers a variety of race options catering to all levels of experience—from ultra-distance courses for seasoned athletes to shorter routes suitable for beginners. For those seeking international recognition, the event features select routes with UTMB Index status, adding an extra layer of prestige to this already remarkable challenge.
Organizers are committed to preserving the natural beauty that participants come to admire by implementing a "zero waste" policy throughout the race. This includes eliminating single-use plastics and encouraging runners to bring reusable supplies for aid stations. These efforts not only enhance the environmental integrity but also contribute to a more sustainable running experience.
In recent years, the Quiroga Trail Challenge has attracted over 1,000 participants from Spain and Portugal, drawn by its unique blend of cultural heritage, natural splendor, and athletic challenge. This February edition promises an unforgettable journey through some of Galicia's most captivating landscapes.
The event offers a chance for runners to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Quiroga’s mountains while contributing positively to environmental conservation efforts. Whether you are looking to push your limits on challenging trails or enjoy scenic routes at a more leisurely pace, the Quiroga Trail Challenge is an experience not to be missed.
