Set against the backdrop of Pennsylvania’s stunning Laurel Highlands region, the Laurel Highlands Ultra on June 13, 2026, offers an unparalleled trail running experience. Nestled within Laurel Ridge State Park and tracing the entirety of the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, this event celebrates its forty-seventh consecutive year with a rich history dating back to 1980.
The centerpiece of the day is the grueling yet rewarding 70.5-mile individual race, which starts at dawn on Saturday morning in Ohiopyle and winds through scenic trails until reaching Route 56 near Seward, PA. Accompanying this challenge are a variety of relay options for teams looking to share the journey, as well as shorter but equally demanding distances such as the 50K event.

Participants will traverse rugged terrain that showcases the region's natural beauty, from dense forests to rolling hills. The course records set by notable athletes like Courtney Campbell underscore the competitive nature of this ultra marathon while also highlighting the enduring appeal it holds for trail running enthusiasts.
Registration opens with limited spots available on a first-come-first-served basis, closing one week before the event. All races are point-to-point, offering runners an immersive journey through Pennsylvania’s historic and scenic landscapes. The race directors, Dann and Jim, ensure that every participant is welcomed into this inclusive community, honoring the land's Indigenous heritage with respect and gratitude.
