Egyptian Marathon-Luxor

Since its inception over three decades ago, the Egyptian Marathon has become an iconic race on the global running circuit, boasting the distinction of being Africa and the Middle East's longest-running marathon. This annual event invites runners to immerse themselves in a historical journey through Luxor’s ancient sites.
The route begins at the majestic temple of Queen Hatshepsut before winding its way past other significant landmarks such as the Temple of Habou, the Temple of Amenophis, and the awe-inspiring Colossi of Memnon. Each step along this storied path offers a glimpse into Egypt's rich cultural heritage, making it an experience unlike any other.
In addition to being recognized by Abbott World Marathon Majors for point accumulation toward future major events, participants can choose from several race categories tailored to their preferences and abilities: the full marathon (AIMS measured), LuxorRun at 22.289 kilometers, Ramsis Run & Walk covering 12.336 kilometers, or a shorter Hatshepsut Run & Walk of 5 kilometers.
Support services are well-placed every 2.5 kilometers along the course, providing runners with mineral water and bananas to sustain them through their run. The climate during race day is ideal for running, with temperatures ranging from 18-23 degrees Celsius and humidity at a comfortable 44%, while wind speeds remain steady at approximately four knots.
