WXT Ultra

The WXT Ultra returns to Titusville, New Jersey on October 24th, featuring challenging ultra distances in the scenic Washington Crossing Park. This year's event sees runners starting and finishing near the Camp Grounds and soccer fields off Bear Tavern Road due to ongoing Visitor Center construction.
On race morning, participants can expect a peaceful setting within the park as they prepare for their run along trails that wind through varied terrain. The atmosphere is marked by early autumn foliage coloring the landscape, with temperatures around 14.5 degrees Celsius at dawn and clear skies providing ideal conditions for long-distance runners to focus on navigation.
WXT Ultra has been an annual tradition since its inception, drawing in hundreds of endurance athletes each year. A significant portion of proceeds benefits the Washington Crossing Park Association, supporting conservation efforts within this historic park that preserves Revolutionary War sites alongside natural habitats. The event is deeply rooted in both athletic competition and community service.
The WXT Ultra course features diverse landscapes across different sections. For the 25K+ route, runners will encounter mostly single-track trails with short road segments. After covering initial terrain inside Washington Crossing Park's boundaries for approximately seven miles, participants transition onto Church Road into BaldPate State side before connecting to Pleasant Valley Rd and Howell Living Farm via Valley Rd. The course then leads through the Dry Run Creek Trail and Rock Hopper trailhead on RT 518. Notably, Rock Hopper is recognized as one of the most technically challenging parts of the race.
Start times are staggered for both distances; aid stations will be strategically placed near significant landmarks such as Washington Crossing Park's Nature Center, Pleasant Valley Rd lot in BaldPate, and at the trailhead leading to Rock Hopper. For the 50K route specifically, runners must reach Rock Hopper by 11:30 AM or face disqualification; further cut-off times dictate that participants exiting this section after 2:30 PM will not be permitted to continue.
Weather conditions in Titusville during October tend towards mild temperatures and moderate humidity levels. Runners should anticipate average highs around 14.5 degrees Celsius with minimal chance of precipitation at only about one millimeter expected throughout the day's race window.
