The 2026 Wuhan Marathon, affectionately known as the "Cherry Blossom Course," is set for Sunday, March 22, 2026. This World Athletics Gold Label Road Race is a premier spring event, strategically timed to coincide with the city's spectacular cherry blossom season. For the 2026 edition, the course has been expanded to traverse all seven central urban districts of Wuhan for the first time, offering runners an unprecedented tour of the city's historical and modern landmarks. Starting near the China Three Gorges Corporation office along the Yangtze River, the route captures the "Hero City's" spirit by crossing the iconic Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge and the East Lake Greenway. The event is a massive logistical undertaking, having attracted over 450,000 applicants for just 30,000 available slots, with the full marathon concluding at Wuhan Happy Valley and segments of the race highlighting the newly renovated Qingshan Riverside.
