Wild Boar Night Run

On September 11, 2027, runners will converge on the eerie yet captivating terrain of the Green Swamp - West Tract near Dade City, Florida, for an unforgettable half-marathon under the stars. Starting at 7:30 PM and stretching through moonlit trails, this race offers a unique blend of adventure and challenge.
The course is an out-and-back journey along one of the most scenic routes in Green Swamp, with runners traversing old forest roads and pasture lanes before merging onto the Florida Trail. The trailhead at McNeil Entrance marks both the turnaround point and aid station location, situated roughly 6.6 miles into the race. Here, participants will find essential supplies like soda, pickles, gummy bears, chips, snacks, cookies, produce, electrolyte powders, band-aids, and women's hygiene products.
The atmosphere on this night is filled with the sounds of nature—frogs croaking, owls hooting, birds calling, insects buzzing, coyotes yipping, and even potential Skunk Ape sightings. Runners will experience a mix of silence and eerie noises that might pique their curiosity about Florida's legendary Bigfoot creature.
Post-race festivities include an affordable $25 potluck party where runners can share homemade dishes with fellow participants. This communal gathering fosters camaraderie and recovery, making for a memorable end to the race day.
For those looking to extend their adventure, camping is available at nearby sites within Green Swamp—free but requiring reservations through Southwest Florida Water Management District's website. The Skunk Ape Trail Series challenge awaits runners who wish to connect all four of Skunk Ape Events' trail races into one grand achievement, rewarding completion with a special jacket.
