Gear up for the Westside MTB Kettles, a premier lap-based cross-country (XCO) showdown returning to the rugged terrain of Fort Ebey State Park on Sunday, March 8, 2026. As a cornerstone of the Westside Mountain Bike Series, this event challenges riders to navigate the unique glacial topography of Whidbey Island. From technical root-latticed descents to punchy, lung-busting climbs and breathtaking bluff-top vistas overlooking the Salish Sea, the Kettles course is widely regarded as the hardest in the series. The race utilizes a dynamic multi-lap format on a high-intensity circuit based out of the Vista Group Camp in Coupeville, WA. Whether you are an Expert (Cat 1) pushing through four laps of technical singletrack or a Beginner (Cat 3) taking on two laps for your first competitive miles, the event offers a high-speed test of Northwest mountain bike skill and stamina. Participants can expect a vibrant community atmosphere with specialized divisions for Singlespeed, Clydesdale, and Athena riders. With registration open via RunSignup and prices increasing after March 7, now is the time to secure your spot for a day of "hero dirt" and island trail mastery. Remember to register before arriving at the venue, as cell service at Fort Ebey is notoriously limited.
