Walk, Run, Hike for Hospice 2026

The Walk, Run, Hike for Hospice 2026 is a community-driven fundraiser organized by the Airdrie and District Hospice Society (ADHS). Held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the event aims to raise awareness and funding for hospice programs in the Airdrie area. This family-oriented gathering combines physical activity with live entertainment and social activities, operating under the poignant theme: "We all walk for Someone!"

Participants can choose their preferred distance—1 km, 2 km, or 5 km—making the event accessible to various fitness levels. The schedule is structured to ensure a synchronized community experience starting with a group warm-up.

The event is hosted at East Lake Regional Park (730 East Lake Road Northeast) in Airdrie, Alberta. The park features a scenic lake loop and paved pathways that are fully wheelchair accessible. In early May, Airdrie typically experiences fresh spring weather with average daytime highs of 15°C. The routes are designed to accommodate families with strollers and leashed pets, ensuring an inclusive environment for all attendees. Participants are encouraged to "Wear Purple"—the signature color of hospice awareness—with a special prize awarded for the most creative purple costume.

Beyond the trails, the event features a high-energy atmosphere with live music provided by local award-winning country singer Brandon Lorenzo. Pre-race movements are led by Karen MacDonald and the Ladies Out Loud group, while the Airdrie Awesome Walk and Run Club helps set the pace for the participants. Additional on-site attractions include a silent auction benefitting the ADHS, bubbles and sidewalk chalk for children, and a swag bag for those who complete their registration by the early May deadline.

Registration is managed online and must be completed by Sunday, May 3, 2026. Pre-registered participants receive official race bibs and gift bags.
