Volksrust Marathon 42.2km, 32km, 21.1km, 10km & 4.9km Fun Run

On November 21, 2026, runners and walkers will gather at Volksrust High School for the annual Volksrust Marathon. This year's race offers four distances: the full marathon (42.2km), a challenging 32km qualifier, the half marathon (21.1km), and a fun 10km run. The event starts early on Saturday morning at 6:00 AM for all but the Fun Run which begins at 6:10 AM.
The route is an out-and-back course along undulating tar roads that wind through scenic landscapes, offering participants plenty of opportunities to enjoy the picturesque surroundings while pushing their limits. Water tables are strategically placed every two kilometers to ensure runners stay hydrated throughout the race.
Entry fees range from R250 for the marathon down to R60 for the Fun Run, with no race-day entries accepted after Wednesday, November 18th at noon. Race packs can be collected on Friday evening or early Saturday morning before the start of the event.
Participants will find refreshments available along the course and professional timing provided by BoutTime despite there being no chips used for this year's edition. All runners who officially finish within the cut-off time, which is 12:00 PM, are eligible to receive medals.
The Volksrust Marathon not only serves as a Comrades and Two Oceans qualifier but also celebrates the spirit of endurance running in a supportive community atmosphere. With ASA rules applying strictly throughout the event, it promises an authentic experience for both competitive athletes and casual runners alike.
