VI CARRERA POR LA SALUD

On Sunday, November 8, 2026, the vibrant city of Badajoz will host its sixth annual "Carrera Popular por La Salud," organized by the Community Health Commission El Progreso. This popular race offers a diverse range of categories for participants to enjoy, from young children to adult athletes.
The event kicks off at Plaza del Progreso with a 5000-meter run for adults starting promptly at 11:00 AM. Following this main event are various races tailored specifically for younger competitors, beginning at noon and concluding by early afternoon. Each race is meticulously planned to ensure safety and enjoyment for all participants.
The route itself winds through the heart of Badajoz on a closed-off circuit that ensures no vehicles can interfere with runners' progress except those authorized by the organizers. The course loops around Plaza del Progreso, leading up to Fuerte de San Cristóbal before returning back to the starting point. For younger categories like Sub16 and Sub18, participants will complete one lap of this route.
Safety is a top priority; the race benefits from extensive support including medical personnel provided by Cruz Roja, as well as dedicated volunteers who assist with everything from registration to finish line operations. The event also features an online presence through Facebook's "Semana Salud" page where all details are centralized for easy access and updates.
Registration opens on October 1st and closes at midnight on November 4th, offering a modest fee of €3 for adult categories and €1 for younger races. Participants can collect their bibs from Plaza del Progreso starting at 9:00 AM the day before they compete to ensure smooth race-day logistics.
All participants receive medals in recognition of their efforts, particularly those in sub6 through Sub12 age groups. Trophies are awarded to top finishers across all categories, adding an extra layer of excitement and motivation for competitors.
