The Upington Toyota Extreme offers two thrilling options: the challenging "Extreme" and a more accessible "Lite." In the Extreme, participants will tackle an 800m swim through the river followed by a technical 28km mountain bike trail winding through scenic landscapes before concluding with a 10km run on dirt roads in the heart of the Kalahari veld. For those seeking a shorter but equally exciting challenge, the Lite includes a 250m swim, a 14km mountain bike route, and a 5km trail run.
New this year is the Extreme Kids event for young adventurers aged 6 to 11 years old. This mini-triathlon features a short 20m swim in the river, a fun-filled 1km mountain biking section, and concludes with an invigorating 500m run through the veld.
Participants can choose to compete individually or form teams of three, each member tackling one discipline before handing off to their teammates. The overall team time is recorded once all members have completed their respective legs.
