Ultra X Morocco 2026 invites trail runners from around the world to explore the breathtaking landscapes of southern Morocco, centered around the historic city of Ouarzazate. Known as "the door of desert," this region offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and dramatic natural scenery. The event features two challenging races: an epic 110km ultra marathon spread over two days (Saturday and Sunday) and a more compact but equally scenic 50km race on the final day, both held in November. The longer route is divided into a 60km leg on Saturday morning followed by another grueling 50km stage on Sunday. Participants will traverse through ancient Kasbahs, winding pathways of traditional fortified villages, lush oases, and rugged desert terrain. Along the way, they'll be supported by local communities who offer water, shade, shelter, and medical assistance at regularly spaced checkpoints every 12 kilometers or so. For those tackling both stages of the 110km race, camping near Tazentout on Saturday night provides a chance to rest under clear starlit skies. Here, runners can enjoy hot meals prepared with dehydrated rations and receive necessary medical care before continuing their journey back into Ouarzazate. Competitors in the shorter 50km event will stay comfortably at accommodations within Ouarzazate for both Saturday night and Sunday morning, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the vibrant local culture while enjoying a luxurious basecamp experience. Ultra X Morocco promises an unforgettable adventure through some of Morocco's most stunning landscapes, offering runners not just a physical challenge but also a profound connection with this iconic country’s rich heritage.
