Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport - Online Workshop
Monday, September 7, 2026 | 18:00-21:00 GMT
The Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport workshop is a critical training program recognized by all sports governing bodies as the essential standard for child protection. This comprehensive online course equips participants with the knowledge to identify signs of abuse and provides practical tools necessary for addressing issues effectively.
Participants will engage in two modules designed to enhance their understanding and skills:
Module 1: An interactive Brightspace learning environment where you'll complete an online quiz, taking approximately one to two hours at your convenience before joining the live webinar. This module covers key concepts related to child protection and good coaching practices.
Module 2: A three-hour virtual classroom session led by experienced tutors who will guide discussions on real-world scenarios and ethical considerations.
The workshop aims to empower you with:
- The ability to recognize signs of abuse and respond appropriately.
- An understanding of your values and feelings regarding child abuse, along with strategies for managing these in professional settings.
- Practical skills to support children's wellbeing within sports environments.
This interactive learning experience simulates a face-to-face environment. You'll connect live from the comfort of your home, engaging directly with tutors and fellow participants through video calls, chat features, and collaborative breakout rooms.
To participate:
1. Two weeks before the event, you will receive an email titled 'sportscotland: Enrolment Confirmation' to access Brightspace.
2. Follow up with a confirmation email from Triathlon Scotland containing joining instructions for the live session.
Access requirements include a reliable internet connection and either a desktop/laptop or tablet device. The virtual classroom can be accessed via Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browsers (not Internet Explorer).
Upon completion of both modules, you will need to complete an evaluation survey within Brightspace to receive your Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport certificate.
