TrailFest - Holdenby House

TrailFest invites runners of all levels to explore the historic and enchanting Holdenby House Estate in Northamptonshire for an unforgettable day of trail running. Whether you're a seasoned ultra runner or just starting out, there's something here for everyone.
The event offers four distinct distances: 10K, half marathon, full marathon, and a challenging 50 km route. Each course winds through the estate’s stunning woodland trails, rolling hills, and picturesque farmland, providing an immersive experience that caters to various skill levels and paces. The terrain is diverse, with sections of farm track, field edges, and a secluded wood where runners must navigate over fallen branches and logs.
The Holdenby House Estate itself boasts rich history dating back to the Elizabethan era when it was one of England's largest houses. Today, visitors can enjoy free parking on grassy fields used year-round for this purpose. The estate is conveniently located near Northampton train stations and just a short drive from Junction 18 of the M1.
TrailFest ensures that all runners have ample time to complete their chosen distance with generous cut-off times designed specifically for newcomers and those looking to push personal boundaries. Spectators are welcome to cheer on participants throughout the day, creating an encouraging atmosphere as everyone moves through this beautiful landscape.
Registration fees vary based on entry dates; early bird discounts apply up until June 28th, 2026. Unaffiliated runners pay a small additional fee but can join clubs like the Big Bear Brigade for long-term savings and exclusive perks such as reduced entry costs before events are even announced.
Participants should note that this is strictly a trail running event with distances that may slightly vary due to course conditions; however, all competitors cover equivalent routes on race day. Dogs are not permitted at any time during these licensed races under UK Athletics/Trail Running Association guidelines.
For those interested in longer durations, crew support is allowed but pacers are prohibited except within the final 100 meters of each distance. Spectators can set up a gazebo near headquarters for group gatherings or simply enjoy the day from various spots along the course.
