About the Event

Defy the iconic black pyramids of northern France at the Trail des Pyramides Noires on Saturday, May 9, 2026. This unique and challenging trail running festival takes you straight to the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Nord-Pas-de-Calais Mining Basin, where you'll conquer the region's legendary, steep-sided terrils (slag heaps) that tower over the landscape. With a full menu of distances from a formidable Ultra (approx. 115km) and a tough 70km down to an accessible 10km, there's a perfect "dose of climbing" for everyone, from elite ultra-runners to first-time trail enthusiasts. The event is famed for its incredible warm, convivial, and famously funny atmosphere, where the shared struggle up the coal-black slopes is met with encouragement, laughter, and legendary aid station food from the local volunteers. Every route culminates in a spectacular finish at the historic 9-9bis mining site in Oignies, where you'll be celebrated as a hero amidst the industrial heritage. More than just a race, it's a deep immersion into the culture and community spirit of the mining region, promising aching legs, unforgettable views, and a massive sense of achievement.
