The race unfolds in the heart of the Monti Sibillini National Park, specifically starting and ending in the village of Campi di Norcia. The terrain is characteristic of the Apennines, featuring vast high-altitude plateaus (famed for the lentil flowering) and rigorous mountain climbs. In mid-May, the area typically sees mild temperatures around 16°C, though conditions on the ridges can be significantly cooler and windier. Runners can download official GPX tracks and study the altimetry for both the 45 km and 26 km courses to prepare for the specific vertical demands of the Sibillini peaks.

Central to the Trail della Lenticchia is the RestarTrail initiative. This project aims to use trail running as a vehicle for social and economic revitalization in areas affected by seismic activity. By participating, athletes contribute to the "heart of solidarity sports," helping the mountain communities of Norcia move forward.
