Journey into the heart of French history where ancient forests once supplied timber for the royal navy of Louis XIV. The Trail de la Forêt Royale, based in Bélesta, weaves a stunning 16km course through this legendary landscape, ascending nearly 890 meters of elevation. This early-season classic, born from the organizers of the famed Trail des Citadelles, masterfully blends panoramic mountain vistas with the deep, mysterious silence of fir forests. Runners will navigate a labyrinth of trails, past the remarkable 'Trou des corbeaux' chasm, before a thrilling descent past the historic ruins of Château d'Amont. More than a race, it's a celebration of local passion, culminating in a warm, communal gathering with a post-race lunch and drinks.
