Discover a hidden gem of Portuguese trail running at the Trail da Tapada Real de Mafra on Saturday, 19th April 2026, set within the historic and wildlife-rich grounds of the Tapada Nacional de Mafra. This accessible and affordable event, organized by Trail4U, offers three beautiful off-road options: a challenging 20km "Trail Longo," a scenic 12km "Trail Curto," and a non-competitive 12km walk, all starting from the Casa do Salabredo. The route winds through the protected forest and meadows of the former royal hunting ground, providing a unique opportunity to run in a tranquil, natural setting steeped in history just north of Lisbon. With early bird entry fees starting from just €12 and a strong focus on local community participation across all age categories, the event has a friendly, inclusive atmosphere perfect for both seasoned trail runners and those new to the sport. The 2026 edition, with a generous participant limit of 600, promises a well-marked course, basic but sufficient support, and the chance to explore one of Portugal's most beautiful natural parks on foot. Secure your spot early for a delightful spring trail run that combines sport, nature, and heritage in a truly special location.
