About the Event
Trail de la Sonnette – A Decade of Joy and Adventure In its tenth year, the Trail de la Sonnette returns to its roots in Grand Madieu, marking where it all began back in 2015. Originally organized by a handful of volunteers led by Fabien, this event has grown over the years while maintaining its core spirit: fun, camaraderie, and enjoyment for everyone involved. This year’s edition will feature five communes along the trail route – Grand Madieu, St Laurent de Ceris, Beaulieu sur sonnette, Parzac, and St Claud. To commemorate this milestone anniversary, organizers have crafted a special 50km race that winds through each of these picturesque locations. Participants can choose to run solo or in relay teams of two. In addition to the main event, there are four other distances available: 5km, 15km, and 25km for individual runners, as well as another 50km option designed for relay teams. For young aspiring athletes, children's races have been organized at the starting site – a short course of 600m for ages 5 to 7 and a longer distance of 1.2km for those aged 8 to 14. Registration is open both online and on-site, with free entry available for these kids' events through donations supporting St Laurent de Ceris’ APE association. Additionally, a scenic 15km hiking route will be offered, providing an alternative for casual walkers who wish to enjoy the landscape without competing against time. The trail winds through private properties, so participants are reminded to respect the environment and local residents as they traverse these beautiful landscapes. Detailed course maps won’t be released until the day before the race but rest assured that all routes have been carefully planned to showcase some of the region’s finest scenery. Last year's event introduced a gourmet finish line buffet which was highly appreciated by runners, highlighting local produce and artisans. This tradition will continue this year with an even more extensive selection of regional delicacies available for purchase at 11€ per person. Reservations can be made in advance via phone or on-site. The day concludes with a festive atmosphere as participants gather to enjoy the post-race awards ceremony followed by a communal meal celebrating everyone’s achievements and community spirit.
