Track Race Series

Ryde Harriers invites runners of all levels to join their summer series featuring monthly track races from May through September. These events take place on Thursday evenings at Fairway Sandown, starting promptly at 19:00 after an open venue time from 18:30.
Participants are encouraged to register online via the free entry portal for each race to provide estimated finish times and help facilitate seeding of runners based on pace groups. While day-of registration is accepted, early sign-up ensures a smoother event experience. Non-members of Ryde Harriers can participate as guests by paying £1.50 per evening at number collection.
The races are designed with the community in mind, offering various distances throughout the summer to cater to different age and skill levels:
- 30th April 2026: 5,000m for runners aged 15 and over
- 21st May 2026: 3,000m open to those aged 13 and above
- 25th June 2026 (IOW Championship): A challenging 10,000m race for runners age 17+
- 30th July 2026 (IOW Championship): Another competitive 5,000m event for those aged 15 and older
- 27th August 2026: A shorter but intense 3,000m race open to runners age 13+
- 24th September 2026: The final evening includes a mile run (open to all ages) followed by an exciting 4x400m relay for teams of any composition
Race numbers are collected from the track side cabin, and participants must register with officials upon receiving their number. For this series, it is mandatory that club members wear T-shirts or vests.
The venue provides free parking and accessible toilets. Race organizers will appreciate additional support in lap counting to ensure a smooth event flow. The Isle of Wight Athletic Club (IOW AC) has kindly arranged for track officials at each race, further enhancing the experience.
Please note that while these races are open to all ages as per UKA Rule 141 S2 guidelines on maximum distances by age group, no formal track licence is currently in place. Therefore, results will not be submitted to Power of 10 unless there's sufficient interest and attendance moving forward.
