Tour of Merseyside

The Tour of Merseyside offers runners an unparalleled week-long adventure across six distinct venues within Merseyside, spanning over fifty-two miles and seven days. Each day presents unique challenges with varying distances, locations, and terrain, making it a diverse and demanding experience.
Inspired by Dr. Ron Hill in the early 1980s as a Double Marathon challenge amidst the marathon fever that followed London's inaugural event in 1981, The Tour of Merseyside stands out from traditional marathons with its exclusive format and smaller-scale participation.
In 2025, the Club Team Challenge was introduced to add an extra layer of competition for clubs. Teams consisting of six members (including both male and female athletes) compete by calculating their best combined time. Marsh Lane Harriers emerged victorious in the inaugural year and will defend their title at this upcoming edition on June 27, 2027.
Throughout each race day, participants can expect to find bottled water along the course to keep hydrated during the run. At the finish line, runners are greeted with post-race snacks to help refuel after a challenging yet rewarding journey through Merseyside's scenic landscapes and bustling venues.
