Tour of Ibaraki 2026 (ツール・ド・茨城2026)

The Tsukuba-Aoino Cycling Challenge returns this October, following the success of its inaugural edition in 2025. This year's event promises an exhilarating journey through some of Ibaraki Prefecture’s most scenic landscapes.
Participants will embark on a route that stretches approximately 130 kilometers from Tsukuba City to Aoino Town, traversing seven municipalities: Tsukuba City, Tsuchiura City, Ioka City, Kasama City, Joso Town, Hitachiohmiya City, and Ogochi Town. The course weaves through urban areas, mountain passes, farmlands, forest trails, and rugged hills.
The ride offers a unique blend of terrain challenges and breathtaking scenery, providing cyclists with an unforgettable experience. Along the way, riders will encounter picturesque vistas ranging from bustling cityscapes to serene rural landscapes dotted with traditional Japanese farms and verdant forests. This diverse route ensures that every participant can enjoy varied riding conditions while immersing themselves in Ibaraki’s rich cultural heritage.
Throughout the event, local communities have prepared special treats featuring regional delicacies and gourmet offerings at designated aid stations spread across key points on both full-length and half courses. With up to seven stops for refreshments available along the way, cyclists can indulge in delicious snacks and drinks designed to keep them fueled throughout their ride.
Notable guests include members of the Weakly Pedal team and renowned female cyclist "Bell-ringing Spirit" S玲奈 (Rin Rin), adding an extra layer of excitement and inspiration for all participants. Whether you are a seasoned rider or new to long-distance cycling, this event offers something special for everyone who loves exploring beautiful rural Japan by bike.
