The 16th TOKYO Nariki Forest Trail Run is the second installment of the Tokyo Trail Run Series, scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2026. This event is highly regarded for its scenic course through the lush, vibrant greenery of Ome City. With a moderate difficulty rating, it serves as a challenging yet accessible competition for runners looking to experience the mountain trails of the Tokyo Metropolis.

The race follows a rigorous loop starting from Nariki House, climbing through the Nachagiri Forest Road to reach several notable peaks, including Mt. Takamizu (735m) and Mt. Bounomine, which marks the highest point of the race at 969 meters. The technical nature of the terrain includes steep ascents and descents that require participants to use gloves for safety. Due to the density of the forest and the zigzagging nature of the trails, the actual distance covered is approximately 30% longer than standard GPS readings would suggest.
Nariki is located in the northernmost part of Ome City, bordering Saitama Prefecture. It is a region defined by its deep forestry traditions and the Nariki River, which feeds into the Iruma River system. Unlike the more urbanized sections of Ome, Nariki retains a tranquil, mountainous atmosphere. The area is home to the Takamizuyama Jofukuin, an ancient temple that participants pass during the race, adding a spiritual and cultural dimension to the athletic challenge.
The event is organized by the KFC Triathlon Club and is capped at 400 participants to ensure trail preservation and runner safety. After crossing the finish line, runners are provided with a traditional lunch of yakisoba and refreshments. To facilitate easy access, a dedicated shuttle service operates from JR Kawabe Station. Historically, winners of this race are granted permanent entry fee waivers for future iterations of the event, fostering a loyal community of elite trail runners. As the race takes place in the foothills of the Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park, participants are also advised to carry bear bells during their training runs in the area.
