🌄 The Park: Big Spring State Park
Big Spring State Park is a 382-acre park with dramatic views from a ~200-foot bluff and 160–200 feet of elevation change—an ideal setting for a scenic, challenging, community takeover day.

🧭 Choose Your Route: Road or Trail

🛣️ Paved Road Loop (Clockwise)
Distance: 2.5 miles (1 loop)
Walking estimate: ~50 minutes (pace-dependent)

🏔️ Scenic Mountain Trail System Loop (Counter-Clockwise)
Distance: 3.5 miles (1 loop)
Walking estimate: ~1 hour 40 minutes (pace-dependent)

 
💞 Pair or Solo — Your Choice
Race as a pair for Valentine’s weekend, or race solo—either way, you’re in.

After checking this box, you will be asked to join an existing group or create a new group
If you create a new group, you will create a group password to share with your other group member

🏁 12K Option — Road 7.5 miles (3 loops) 8:05 AM Start
🏁 20K Option — Road 12.5 miles (5 loops) 8:05 AM Start

🥾 NEW THIS YEAR: Open Trail Course Option (Supported Hours)
Prefer a less-structured experience or want extra miles after your race? We are adding an Open Trail window where participants can enjoy the park routes with trail aid available during posted hours. Timed loop open format.

🕛 Open Trail Supported Hours: 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on February 14th

This Open Trail division is designed to create an open format with extra services available to the community—especially for those wanting a first-time experience at Big Spring State Park. The course will be clearly marked, with added services out on the course and added Trail Patrol support for safety monitoring.

As part of our event, we will offer a guided park preview to help participants feel confident on race day.

🗓️ When and Where: January 31st — Pre-race walk/run begins at 8:30 AM

🧑‍🏫 Instructor-led orientation: course flow, climbing/descending tips, pacing guidance
🛣️ Road and trail options so you can familiarize yourself with the park

🌿 “Leave No Trace” etiquette is expected—please plan to carry wrappers/gel tabs and discard trash only at aid zones or Start/Finish.

We cannot host these events without volunteers. If you’d like to serve at an aid station, help with directionals, or support post-race, we can also accommodate community service hour needs.
