For those looking to dip their toes into this intense format without committing fully, the organizers have introduced two new options: a reduced-cost entry for both a six-hour and twelve-hour race. These shorter versions mirror the full event's setup but do not extend beyond their respective timeframes; participants will be automatically marked as DNF (Did Not Finish) by the timing system once these limits are reached.
The main event unfolds with runners completing 4.167 miles every hour on the hour, striving to outlast competitors until only one remains capable of finishing a single "yard" within each subsequent hourly period. The race begins at noon after an initial briefing at 11:30 AM and continues through late Sunday evening.
The course itself is meticulously designed for speed with its wide, flat paths winding through the forest's lush greenery. Predominantly gravel or grass footpaths make up this route, offering excellent traction despite minimal elevation changes that include just one small hill. Full signage ensures runners stay on track throughout their grueling journey.
High Lodge provides a free camping area where participants and crews can set up tents for the duration of the event. Space is limited to accommodate around 250 people comfortably, with organizers guiding setup upon arrival based on available space at that time. Strict adherence to fire safety rules means no cooking within or near campsites; however, designated areas are provided for heating food under supervision.
Facilities include portable toilets kept clean and well-stocked throughout the event period. Hot and cold water along with basic snacks like pot noodles and pasta pots will be available from a single aid station located at the start/finish area until 8 PM Sunday evening.
