Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of Rathfinny Wine Estate, nestled within the South Downs National Park, for an unforgettable running experience. The estate, known as the world's first grower-producer of sparkling wine to achieve B Corp certification, invites runners to traverse its picturesque vineyards and hilly trails on May 10th, 2026. Participants can choose between a challenging 10.7km single loop or a full half marathon covering two loops, each offering stunning views of the rolling hills and lush greenery surrounding Rathfinny. The undulating terrain, with its mix of grassy trails and wooded sections, provides both scenic beauty and physical challenge. Expect elevation gains of approximately 220 meters per lap, making it an ideal course for runners who enjoy a bit of hill climbing. The race day starts at the Tasting Room in Alfriston, where you'll find Race HQ complete with portable toilets near The Hut by the car park and more facilities closer to the start. A bag drop area is available at your own risk; be sure to clearly label any items left behind with both your name and race number. Travel arrangements are made convenient for runners coming from afar—free shuttle buses will transport participants directly to the venue, reducing carbon emissions while ensuring everyone arrives on time. Parking spaces near Rathfinny’s Cellar Door and Tasting Room are also available; a nominal fee applies unless you're carpooling with two or more runners. Race day refreshments include hot drinks and breakfast rolls at The Hut from 08:30 am, though pre-booked lunch reservations at the Tasting Room offer a full dining experience for those looking to stay longer. Pre-race briefings take place ten minutes before each start time—10:05am for half marathon runners and 10:25am for the shorter distance—with warm-ups provided by GingerFit Personal Training. Water stations are strategically placed at both the halfway point (around 5km) and the finish line, offering bananas and vegan flapjacks to keep your energy levels up. Please bring reusable bottles or hydration packs as no cups will be available due to sustainability practices. Race numbers must be visible on the front of your shirt; doing so ensures accurate timing via chip technology embedded in each number. Medical information should also be filled out on the back for safety reasons, and headphones (except bone conducting) are strictly prohibited per ARC guidelines. All finishers receive recycled medals as a token of appreciation, while top male and female runners in both distances will earn trophies along with bottles of Sussex Sparkling wine from Rathfinny. Prize-giving ceremonies occur promptly at 12:00pm for the shorter distance and 12:30pm for half marathon competitors. Join us to support local cancer charity WOLO Foundation, which benefits from free race entries given out as part of our fundraising initiative. Let's celebrate a day filled with movement, community spirit, and natural splendor at Rathfinny Wine Estate.
