About the Event

The Mighty Mosquito Trail Fest returns to Honeoye Falls, New York on July 25th and concludes the following day, offering a diverse range of distance options for runners across all skill levels from novice trail enthusiasts to seasoned ultrarunners. The event takes place primarily at Stewart Lodge in Mendon Ponds Park near Mendon, NY, spanning both Saturday and Sunday with various race distances starting early on each morning.
Participants can expect the race weekend atmosphere to be bustling as it kicks off at 6:00 AM sharp for the Mighty Mosquito 100-mile event. The trails around Stewart Lodge are known for their challenging terrain, but the hard and dry surface ensures stable footing throughout the races. Each day brings its own unique set of activities and events, culminating in a festive finish line celebration that honors all participants regardless of distance or speed.
Since its inception as part of Christmas in July festivities, The Mighty Mosquito Trail Fest has grown significantly each year, drawing hundreds of runners from across New York State and beyond. In 2026, the event is set to expand with new race options for both solo competitors and relay teams alike. All proceeds benefit the Blue Foundation charity organization based in Canandaigua, NY, which supports various community initiatives.
The course winds through Mendon Ponds Park, featuring a mix of rugged trails that challenge even the most experienced runners. Aid stations are strategically placed along each route to provide essential hydration and nutrition for participants as they navigate the challenging terrain throughout both days of competition. The park's natural beauty provides an awe-inspiring backdrop against which athletes can push their limits.
Typical weather conditions in July at race locations include temperatures ranging from 17.9°C to 27.8°C, with humidity levels averaging around 72.8%, and rainfall expected to be light at approximately 3.4mm over the weekend period. Runners should anticipate a UV index of 8 (Very High) necessitating proper sun protection measures such as sunscreen application.
