About the Event

We are excited to be back another year to offer, THE GREAT BANGOR MARATHON & HALF, Sunday June 7, 2026, starting at 7 am at the corner of Main St and Dutton St in Bangor, Maine. This event is USATF sanctioned, and Boston certified (Marathon ME24008BK Half ME24007BK). There will be a full marathon through Bangor out valley avenue to Broadway with a turn around in the town of Kenduskeag and back to the Finish at Bangor Waterfront Park (Dutton St entrance) just south of Geaghan’s restaurant. There is only a 170' elevation difference on the course profile from start to finish. The half marathon following the same course with a turn around on outer Broadway shortly after Pushaw Road. We have already secured All Sports Events to be the official timer for the race. There is NO TIME LIMIT - we want you to reach your goal to complete the race. For runners who have "BOTTLES", we will accept "BOTTLES" at the operations tent at the start by 6:30 am. These will be on a special table at each water station for the runner to pick up. We will have a vendor area at the finish line for runners and their guests. Geaghan's, which is right at the finish line, is our beverage sponsor and the beverage garden will be open to socialize and talk about the race with family and friends. There is plenty of nearby parking, affordable lodging and dining to make this a destination for the whole family. For more information check out our Facebook page "The Great Bangor Marathon & Half". Packet pickup will be June 6, 2026, from 3-6 pm at THE MAINE EXPERIENCE on the Bangor Waterfront.

In 2026, we are once again offering a special medal "Run the Highlands" for runners who complete both The Great Bangor Marathon & Half and The Great Lincoln Marathon & Half.

There is PRIZE MONEY and we will be announcing awards for both the Marathon, Half Marathon and age categories in January 2026.
