This format ensures that runners cannot fully predict whether they will be tackling a short 3.33-mile effort or a grueling 20-mile challenge. The figure-eight course features a varied mix of dirt single-track, gravel, pavement, and technical elements like stairs, with a total time limit of six hours to accommodate the maximum potential distance. All proceeds from the event support The Run828 Foundation and North Carolina Mountain Trail Runners (NCMTR).
